What’s Up Among Friends of Centennial Campus?

Meeting our Friends!

A Certificate Presentation and a Guided Library Visit was held on December 12, 2009. More than 20 organisations and individual members attended the ceremony, and shared their views on the Centennial Campus. Mr. Stephen Chan, JP, the Vice-Chairman of the Central and Western District Council, and Mr. Kenneth Wong, HKU Director of Estates, presented certificates to our Friends. A Guided Library Tour was arranged for programme members after the ceremony, and members were offered access to HKU Libraries to enjoy their resources and facilities in the next 2 years.

Open courses for our Friends

Friends of Centennial Campus has partnered with General Education Unit and offered selected courses to members in January 2010. Speakers include Dr. Eddy Lee, Dr. Horace Chin, Mr. Edward Lam, Mr. Cho Yan Chiu and Mr. Jimmy Yu.

Celebrating East Asian Games

To celebrate the East Asian Games in December 2009, Friends of Centennial Campus co-organised a mini-East Asian Games Carnival – “East Asian Games Activities for Family” – with our programme members, the Multi-Storey Building Owners Association of Western District, and the Central & Western Mid-Levels Owners Association, on November 22, 2009. The event was successfully held at the Lung Fu Shan Country Park and the HKU Haking Wong Podium, with over 330 people joining the festivities and taking in the carnival atmosphere! HKU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor John Malpas attended the event
and delivered a welcome speech to the participants. It is our aim, with events like these, to build an ongoing partnership between the university and the community, and we will co-organise events with other programme members in future.
